30% Of Republicans Are Brain Dead

The man has produced his birth certificate TWICE, yet 30% of Republicans still think Barack Obama was not born in this country.

And, on a similar note, 30% of Republicans apparently think Hawaii is not an actual US state.

This new poll, which also shows that 16% of all Americans are as brain dead as that 30% of Republicans, was conducted the week of April 29 to May 2, AFTER Obama released the birth certificate AGAIN and addressed the news media on the topic.

Other groups who are not using their brains, are Conservatives, 34% of whom believe Obama is not an American citizen, and those without a college degree...DUH...21% of whom are clinically moronic.

Seriously, people, the man has shown his birth certificate twice now and yet you still don't buy it? That leads to just one conclusion, well, maybe two.

You're all a bunch of idiots, or you're a bunch of racists.

Which is it?

Iowa?!? WTF?!?

I used to have such high hopes for Iowa, and Iowans. They seemed to be free-thinking, equality-minded, live and let live kind of people.

When marriage equality became the law of Iowa, most Iowans just shrugged and went back to work. And when people, and by people I mean the GOP, who have nothing better to do than work to discriminate against the LGBT community, got all hot'n'bothered about same-sex marriage, the majority of Iowans asked their politicians to give it up. They were more concerned about war and money and jobs, and less concerned that John married Joe, or Jane got hitched to Helen.

Like I said, I had high hopes.

But then they elected people who seek to overturn equality, and remove judges from the bench who interpret laws in ways they don't see fit, and I began to wonder about my Iowans.

And now this:

It seems that nearly half of Iowan Republicans believe President Obama was not born in the United States. Seriously. Once their heads were screwed on straight, and now they're all askew.

Some 48% of registered Republican voters said Obama was not born in the U.S., while 26% say he is an American. Even more scary is the 26% who say they are unsure. Unsure? Seriously?

Let me set this queer for you Iowans. The people, and by people I mean Birther wingnuts and GOP goosesteppers who sidestep the issue, who don't think Obama was born in this country think so simply because of the color of his skin. I mean, black people becoming president!

Or, they think because his name is Barack that he isn't from "here". I mean, if his name was George or Bill, we wouldn't be having this discussion, would we?

Say what you will, you Birther wingnuts, but you are riding this one-trick pony out of racism and fear and ignorance. Neither the color of a man's skin, nor his name alone, makes a man unAmerican.

And Iowans should know better. Or, at least, I thought they did.

And maybe now, since Obama has released his birth certificate AGAIN, we can focus on real issues.

Trump Wants Your Vote, Yet He Doesn't Vote Himself

Donald Trump says he's considering running for president, while I think he's just stroking his over-inflated comb-over. But what's most interesting about all this is that Donald Trump, Mister Teabagger Darling, Mister God Loves America, Mister Gays Aren't Equal, Mister Birther, hasn't voted in any primary election for more than twenty-one years.

At least according to the folks who would know, the New York City Board of Elections.

He last voted in a primary way back in 1989, when Rudy Giuliani beat businessman Ronald Lauder, and then he took twenty-one years off. Records also show that one Donald Hump, er, Trump skipped the 2002 general election, when Republican incumbent, Governor George Pataki defeated Carl McCall.

Yet Trump insists he's voted in every general election.

Of course, he also insists the president wasn't born in this country. He also insists that the Obama administration and campaign must have paid off every single journalist in the world, including the "journalists" at FoxNews, to keep that secret. He also insists that Barack Obama didn't write both the books that Obama says he authored.

Donald Trumps insists: "You're going to pay a big price because you're wrong. I have records that I voted and so does the Board of Elections ... I signed in at every election."

Then  he had his lawyer defend his voting practices. But then his lawyer also said, that while Trump has always voted, he perosnally has no idea to which party Trump had belonged to in previous years.

Like I said, this is all to stroke his massive comb-over.

For A Moment, Jan Brewer Had A Brain And A Heart...But Then She Gave Them Back

There are days when I find a story, a news item, that really piques my interest, but I don't have the time to post about it, so I save it for another day. That happened with this next story, and then the story just sort of ended, and now I'm left with bupkus.
Except.......
Once upon a time, in Arizona, Jan Brewer and her minions wanted to be able to stop you and question you if your skin wasn't lily white, or you had an accent, or an un-American sounding name like Rodriguez or Gomez. But then the 9th Circuit Court stepped in and basically said, "Arizona, you're racist. Knock that shiz off."

So, what does Arizona do next, to prove they're using their brains? Well, the state Legislature last week gave final approval to a proposal that would require President Barack Obama, and other presidential candidates who don't look, well, let's just say it, white, to prove they are US citizens before their names can appear on the state's ballot.

Birther law. In Arizona. but that's to be expected.

And I was all ready to rip Jan Brewer and her racist state a new one for pandering to Birthers and Teabaggers and all their nonsense, until the unthinkable happened. Jan Brewer got a brain. And perhaps, though this is still in doubt, a heart. She vetoed the bill.

Brewer said the Birther Bill would have created “significant new problems while failing to do anything constructive for Arizona” and that she had no choice but to veto the legislation. By way of explanation, she sent a letter  to the Arizona House speaker, saying such racist--okay, she didn't use the word racist because racists don't think they're racist--such legislation “could lead to arbitrary or politically motivated decisions” about candidates’ eligibility for the presidential race. She also added: “I never imagined being presented with a bill that could require candidates for president of the greatest and most powerful nation on earth to submit their ‘early baptismal or circumcision certificates’ among other records to the Arizona secretary of state. This is a bridge too far.”

So, Hell apparently froze over because Jan Brewer set aside her idiocies, and her Palin-esque pandering, to do the right thing. I actually liked Jan Brewer, but then......

She obviously removed the Brain and the Heart that the Wizard had just given her, because she signed legislation giving married couples--and we know by 'married' she means heterosexual couples--preference over gay couples when it comes to adoption.

The new bill law would require any adoption agency, both state and private, to give primary consideration to adoptive placement with a married man and woman, with all other criteria being equal.

Gay couple. Straight couple. Exactly alike in every way, except one, and that one difference is the gender of one party, and it will be used to deny adoption. The only other state with such legislation is Utah, and we know how Utah feels about The Gays.

This bill also discourages single-parent adoption, as preference would also be given to married, straight couples. And yet, right now, about a third of the foster children in Arizona are adopted by an unmarried person. At least until a married couple steps forward ans says they want that child.

Jan Brewer. One step forward and then two ugly steps back.
