Household Art

Finally getting some of the art back on the walls.
The photo--click to really emBIGGERate--is of a window shade that I found at a winery in Amador County, California. The desk is Carlos' , from eons past, while the Bible is mine--yes, mine--and is an old family Bible. The statue on the right is called Twisted Kitty, and is made of wrought iron. i found her in a furniture store in the Mission District of San Francisco.

This is one of the many pieces of Asian-inspired art we have in the house; there's something about these things that Carlos and I both love. It sits high on the wall in the sunroom, and you can only see it when you enter the room, so it's kind of a pleasant surprise.

My mother used to do something called Tole painting, which is a type of folk art. She learned to do this from her sister, and my mom spent years painting anything and everything. This is one of the few wall-art pieces of hers that I have and it sits in the kitchen where I can see it, and smile, every day.

And, of course, this is an example of living art. The most beautiful cat in the world, Tuxedo.

Feeling Peachy

Whoosh. That was rough. It was sleep and run to the bathroom. Drink and run to the bathroom. Use the bathroom, then.......run to the bathroom.
But I'm feeling all peachy now....just no more trunk peachy, you know?
Thanks for all the well-wishes. While Carlos was at work, a team of nurses tended to me. tuxedo slept on one side, Max Goldberg on the other, while Consuelo Roca Jones chewed on my toes--Thanks for giving her the idea DD! Tallulah, however, was that drunk nurse, the kind that passes out on a gurney all day, and Ozzo wouldn't come near the cats!
But.....all better now, so let's get this Blogger started!

Caturday

There are places in our house where cats are allowed to be....on the bed....on the couch in the sunroom....on the couch in the living room....on a kitchen table chair. There are not allowed on living room chairs...or dining room chairs.....or counters.
Tuxedo, however, because he's so delicious, gets away with murder. He is allowed on the bathroom counter, because he enjoys a sip of water from the faucet.....he's allowed on one of the living room chairs....if he's in my lap. And now, apparently, he has granted himself access to a dining room chair. There he is, peeking at me when I asked if he was hungry.
And here is is, doing his Gargoyle impression from atop a living room chair. He doesn't use his front paws to hold on because he's been declawed....DO NOT DO THAT....so he looks like he's just hanging around.
He just looks so darned cute, that I looked the other way and ignored his infractions. luckily for us both, his Latino Daddy wasn't home.

Caturday

Despondent over his love for books, and his utter inability to read a single word, Tuxedo simply gave up.

Caturday: Leapin' Tuxedo!

Tuxedo spots a speck of dust
floating in a beam of sunlight........

......and he's off......in a blur!

Caturday: The Nap Time Edition

Cats love to nap. Eat and then nap. Stretch and then nap. Use the litter box and then nap. Nap and then, you guessed it, nap. And they all do it pretty much the same way:curled up in a tight little ball.
All except The Most handsome Cat Ever, Tuxedo, who marches, er, naps, to his own drummer.
Tallulah Belle.
On a dining room chair??!!???

MaxGoldberg.
On a cat bed, like a good boy.

Miss Consuelo Roca Jones.
As the newbie, she hasn't graduated to 'çat bed' yet.

Tuxedo.
Like Sinatra, he does it his way.

Caturday....With A Small Dose Of Dog[?]urday

Tuxedo and Max Goldberg like to sneak off for a 'nap'.
Yeah, that's it......nap.

My two handsome men!
Consuelo Roca Jones.
Hey, if she doesn't know I'm taking her picture,
I don't get the stink eye!

And speaking of stink eye, Tallulah was giving it
when I caught her playing with Consuelo's toy.

And Ozzo, poor Ozzo.
He begged not to be included on Caturday.
He.Begged.

Tuxedo Caturday

I LOVE that face!

We were worried about Tuxedo getting on with Miss Jones
when she came to live with us. He was leery of MaxGoldberg,
when Max first came along--though they are best buddies
now. He was leery of Tallulah when she first moved in, and
is still leery of her now because she's one crazy bitch. So,
when Consuelo moved in, we watched him, but then he
started playing with her and chasing her, and letting her
chase him; it's like he's her big brother.
Just adorable.

Consuelo Roca Jones Quits The Modeling Biz

Well, it's not such a shock. After being hounded for two weeks by the bobarazzi, and finding herself splattered across the internet like Britney Spears with electric shears, Miss Consuelo Roca Jones has been granted a reprieve from the Daily Pictorial by the Grand Marquesa de DustBunnies, DavidDust.
She will no longer be making a daily appearance in this space, and I will no longer see this face every time I reach for a camera:

Miss Jones has conceded to making the occasional appearance here, as she is nothing, if not gracious, to her fans. But she will be enjoying her semi-retirement, sitting in windows, trying to slither under doors, chasing Tuxedo, scaring Max, and flopping to the floor because she wants a belly scratch.
Miss Jones regrets she's unable to model today.

Consuelo Roca Jones: #16 of 1500

Damn you DD, and your DustBunny proclamations, this is getting hard!
Still, today I discovered that Consuelo does not like closed doors.
This is the door to a closet in the office, but maybe she thinks it's an escape hatch?

Consuelo Roca Jones: #13 of 1500

This new face she makes causes me to wonder if we shouldn't have named her Consuelo Loca Jones!

Consuelo Roca Jones: #12 of 1500

Miss Jones, or Little Girl, or Consuelito, loves a window.
I don't think there's a window in the house she hasn't looked out of, and a window sill upon which she hasn't sat.
This picture makes me wonder....
Is she planning her escape?
Is she thinking, Hmmmm, roasted Cardinal sounds good for dinner?
Or is she planning on rallying the local wild animals to stage a coup at Casa Smallville?
Meanwhile, Ozzo got a bath. And I thought, Thanks heavens for little dogs and big laundry room sinks!
And, like Miss Jones, he seemed ready to plot his escape.

Consuelo Roca Jones: #11 of 1500

When we adopted Miss Jones, they gave us a small bag of cat food, and this toy. It has a ball that runs through a channel, and lights up as it does so, with a scratch pad in the center.
Little Miss Jones loves to bat the ball around and watch it light up.
We also bought another scratching tool for all the cats, but Tuxedo has taken to it most of all. he loves to sit in it, play under, lay atop it, but, most of all, guard it from the other cats.
That's my boy!

Consuelo Roca Jones: #10 of 1500

Today was a mixed bag for Miss Jones.
One Daddy, AKA The Nice One, praised her for using the scratching post twice instead of using, oh, i don't know, a dining room chair, to sharpen her claws.
But the other Daddy, AKA The Latino One, yelled at her because she knocked a Bonsai off the table in the sunroom.
Consuelo did not take the yelling very well, as you can see, from her new spot, under the bed--where she took down the batting from under the box-spring to sleep on......

Consuelo Roca Jones: #8 of 1500

She discovered the joys of catnip, and a scratching post.
Her Daddies discovered the joy on not having to yell at her for using a chair as a scratcher.
As Charlie Sheen would say, 'That's winning!'
