Pillowcases for Craft Hope!

Craft Hope Spreading seeds of hope one stitch at a time

By now, you know that one of my favorite charity groups to work with is Craft Hope. Seriously, if you are a crafter, this is a group you need to become familiar with! Well, as I shared with you a couple of weeks ago, their newest project teams them up with ConKerr Cancer an organization that collects handmade pillowcases for children undergoing cancer treatments.

This project really touched home for me for a couple of reasons. I already shared with you how my very own LA received one of the special pillowcases when she was in the PICU last December. I also have a special little buddy, Carter, who was diagnosed with Leukemia while in my Kindergarten class a few years ago. He is doing great, but is still in the treatment phase. It was hard to see a once vibrant little guy literally hit the wall during those early days. Of course, you would never know it now...his spunk and energy are sky high again!

So, in honor of Carter, thankfulness for LA, and just loving to craft, I whipped out 6 pillowcases for the cause. Why 6? Well, 6 is the average age of my students and I figured it was a good number :) Five cases will be given to the ConKerr cancer organization. The 6th...well...I think I'll hand deliver that to my own special buddy :)

My class theme is bumblebees, so of course, I had to make Carter a bumblebee pillowcase. The UGA one was a bit painful to make (WAR EAGLE), but my husband picked out the fabric for me as I dragged him through Joanns and how could I argue (after all, he did go in the store with me)!

For those of you considering making a pillowcase, I seriously recommend the "hot dog" method described on the ConKerr Cancer website. SOOOOO easy and quick! Ok...now how many are YOU going to make?
