A Book for Baby

After reading up on how babies high contrast colors best at a very young age, I decided to make Lily a little book. I used scrap fabrics, quilt batting, iron on adhesive (Heat n Bond) and some binding.

You will find that I am not good about taking "in progress" pictures, and today's project is no different. But, I promise this project is easy enough, you don't need them! (Instructions are after the pictures)

The "How to"
  • Cut two pieces each of white fabric, black fabric and quilt batting to measure approximately 6" x 12" (or double the width of the size book you want to make).
  • I googled various images and found a fantastic website, Fun with Pictures, and printed a few pictures.
  • Trace the images on your adhesive paper, iron on and cut out.
  • Iron on the appliques to the pages of the book and sew around the edges (I did this so little fingers could not peel them up later, but you don't have to).
  • Sandwich the quilt batting in between a white and black page piece. Sew around the edges.
  • Sew the binding around the edges of the pages.
  • Stack the pages, sew down the middle to create the fold, and you are done!
